Keighley have signed half-back Scott Murrell from Halifax on a two-year deal.

Murrell, 34, spent the last eight seasons at The Shay, and previously made 178 appearances for Hull KR, helping them win promotion to Super League in 2006.

He said: “I am looking forward to a new challenge with Keighley.

“I can’t wait to get started now and rip in with Rhys and the boys for next season.”

Murrell came through the Drighlington community club and made his Super League debut for London Broncos on loan in 2004. He played one game for Leeds, a win over Leigh in 2005.

Cougars coach Rhys Lovegrove said: “Scott is an experienced campaigner that will

add detail to our play on the field.

“Off the field, he has a very strong and energetic work ethic that will add a lot to the dressing room

and develop our culture of success here at the club.

“He will also offer an experienced head in the sheds that will bring through our younger players and

aid them with their own personal development.”
