Scott makes York return

York have signed their former back-rower Sam Scott from Sheffield for 2018.

Scott, 27, came through the ranks at Wakefield before appearing in the Sheffield team that appeared in back-to-back Championship Grand Finals in 2011 and 2012.

He played for York in 2013, scoring four tries in 22 games, before moving on to Batley and then back to Sheffield.

He said: “I was really impressed by how the club was sold to me; the training facilities look outstanding, the environment James and his staff have created in general seems excellent – the rate at which they improved last year is testament to that.

“The club has clear plans to progress, both on and off the field and I’m very keen to help in any way I can. I’ve seen a few York games and I’m excited by their style of play, hopefully I can bring some more strike to their edges, aggression in defence and leadership at key stages.

“Finally, I’m looking forward to playing in front of the York fans again – they were great the last time I was here and hopefully we can all work together and achieve success.”
