South Wales Scorpions have confirmed that they have signed Dai Evans from Bridgend Ravens RUFC.

Evans has also been involved with the Newport-Gwent Dragons and the Ospreys at junior level, as well as playing for Moseley in English RU.

“Playing rugby league professionally is something that I’ve wanted to commit to for some time and I want to be part of something new with the Scorpions,” said the 23-year-old winger.

“I know they’ve had a rough couple of years, but all looks good now under Phil Carleton and I’m pretty excited to change. I’m going to take the opportunity with both hands.

“My best mate Bradley Hill also plays for the Scorpions and as a Caerphilly boy, I can’t wait to play again at my home ground. I’m really excited about it all.”

Scorpions coach Phil Carleton is delighted to have added a player of such potential to the squad for next season.

“Dai is quite a find,” he said.

“He’s played at a high level in rugby union in the RFU Championship and he’s impressed in the Welsh Premiership this year.

“He’s done well the rugby league games he’s played so far and I think he has the potential of being one of the stars of League 1 in 2016.”
