Sandercock unimpressed with Robins’ display

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock explained his team were over excited ahead of their match with London Broncos.

The Robins won comfortably 44-16 at MS Craven Park, but Sandercock was far from impressed with his side’s early performance.

He said: “There was a bit of over-exuberance from our boys early in the game and maybe they’re a little bit too enthusiastic. That can lead to a few untidy errors at the play the ball which is what happened today, and it’s something that we’re working hard at in training as we don’t want to be giving seven penalties away in the first half every week.

“We have a lot of improving to do and need to respect the football a bit better than we did this afternoon. We also need to work on our discipline in the first half and if we can do that then hopefully we can move forward and make some solid progress.”

Hull KR grabbed the win over the Broncos despite losing Sam Latus and Dave Hodgson. Sandercock revealed Latus had tonsillitis, while Hodgson was still not 100 per cent fit.

He said: “Unfortunately though, we don’t have many options on the wing at the moment and with Sam being out, the logical choice was to bring Dave in and try to get him through without making his injury worse.”
