Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell insist head coach Craig Sandercock must be given time despite their poor start to the season.

Rovers have lost three of their four opening fixtures but Hudgell said no rash decisions will be made.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside Sportstalk, he said: “Don’t forget this is a young coach with a young family who is in his first position as a head coach, so we must give him time to do a job.”

“At the moment it is far too early to make decisions, and at the moment I am going to close my ears to some of the things being said to me in terms of him being removed from the role. You have to give it a good run into the start of the season.

“We have another clutch of games coming up, and where we get to Easter and Good Friday we can look at it again. That is a natural time to assess matters as we are a third of the way through the season.”

This season Hull KR have a host of new faces with Travis Burns, Greg Eden, Adam Walker, Sean Gleeson, Evarn Tuimavave, Cory Patterson, Omari Caro and Alex Brown all joining the club.

Hudgell added: “Last year it wasn’t Craig’s team and there were a lot of players in their final years, so it was an unfair judgement. This season he has brought his own players in.”
