Catalans full-back Sam Tomkins has escaped a suspension for raising the knee against Wigan’s Brad O’Neill during Saturday’s Round 23 clash.

Hooker O’Neill, 21, suffered suspected broken ribs in the incident in Perpignan, with the player sent for X-rays.

Wigan head coach Matt Peet refused to speak out against the Wigan legend, who joined the Dragons ahead of 2019.

He told Wigan Today: “I’m not going to comment on it. Everyone saw what happened.

“I don’t think it’s my place to say anything.

“Brad has gone for X-rays. We needled him up to get him back out there in the second half but it was no good. He’s got a rib issue and we’ll find out the seriousness of it in the coming days I guess.”

Tomkins, 34, has been fined £250 by the match review panel.

Meanwhile, the Warriors will be without forward Kaide Ellis for their clash with Salford due to a one-match suspension. The Australian, 27, has been charged with Grade B dangerous contact in the win over in France.

Castleford have also been hit with a double blow with pressure mounting to save their Super League status.

New recruit Liam Horne will miss two of the remaining four fixtures with a Grade D dangerous throw, while veteran Liam Watts will miss this week’s televised clash with Warrington.
