Salford have agreed to sign Morgan Escare and Joe Burgess for 2021, according to reports.

Escare, 28, was released by Wigan last month and was tipped to be joining up with the Red Devils on a month-to-month loan deal.

That is set to become a three-year deal according to French newspaper L’Independant, who also recently revealed that Catalans are expecting to play a home game when Super League restarts next month.

Meanwhile, Wigan Today are reporting that Warriors winger Joe Burgess is to make the move to the AJ Bell Stadium from next season.

Burgess, 25, has been deemed surplus to requirements at the end of his second spell at the Warriors, where he has scored more than 100 tries at almost a rate of one per game.

He spent the 2016 season in the NRL with Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

At the end of last season, Dan Sarginson swapped the DW Stadium for Salford, with Jackson Hastings and Jake Bibby heading in the opposite direction.

While Wigan made public a bid to save Wigan Athletic football club this week, Salford too could be set for a long-term link-up with the city’s football club.

Salford City, owned by the class of 92, have progressed to the Football League in recent seasons and local speculation is growing that an investor is interested in bringing both clubs together to play out of the AJ Bell Stadium, if and when Sale Sharks’ plans to depart for their own purpose-built facility is realised.
