Hull ended their six game losing run in all competitions with a narrow 18-14 victory over Salford City Reds at The Willows.

Darrell Goulding gave Salford an early lead on his home debut, intercepting a wayward pass from Richard Horne to race 80 metres.

And they further extended their lead minutes later with prolific scrum-half Richard Myler latching onto a break by Craig Stapleton, after a supporting a superb offload from prop Ray Cashmere.

But Hull coach Richard Agar will have been pleased with the way his side hit back, scoring three unanswered tries prior to half-time.

Firstly, Mark Calderwood raced in after eleven minutes, before Richard Horne drew scores level minutes later.

Richard Whiting then added a third try on the back of penalties from Salford, to give the away side a slender 16-10 advantage going into the break.

Hull had a try chalked off for obstruction after the interval, and Salford took advantage, Goulding grounding the ball from a Myler kick.

Both sides continued to fight out a stalemate, but Hull extended their lead to four points with a penalty courtesy of Danny Tickle.

And that proved to be the final act of the game, despite late pressure from Salford.
