Rochdale have signed French half-back Pierre-Louis Bourrel, and he made his debut in the defeat to Swinton on Sunday.
Bourrel, 26, scored a brace of tries as bottom of the table Hornets went down 36-28.
Coach Matt Calland said: “We’ve seen plenty of footage of Pierre and he is certianly a player with talent.
“This is a great oppurtunity for him to play in the Championship and we look forward to seeing what he will add to the squad.”
Bourrel hails from Limoux and had a three-year spell in rugby union with Stade Toulousain.
After a spell with Toulouse, he joined Carcassonne, where he was part of the side that won the 2017 Coupe de France.
