Rochdale claim quickest ever try record

Rochdale’s opening try during their win against Swinton on Sunday has been confirmed as the quickest ever rugby league try.

The Hornets kicked off in their 33-22 win, and hesitancy in the Lions defence resulted in the ball bouncing kindly for second rower Danny Samuel.

The try was officially timed at 7.9 seconds, and beats the previous record of nine seconds set by Australian side Wentworthville in a NSW Cup match against Newton at Henson Park last year.
