Roberts keen to bag top eight spot

Oliver Roberts is eager to help Huddersfield secure their place in the Super 8s with a victory over Leigh on Friday.

The Giants head into the game on the back of last week’s 40-0 drubbing of Widnes and Roberts is hoping for more of the same against the struggling Centurions.

“It’ll be a good game that we need to win to secure a place in the top eight,” he told the club’s official website.

“We haven’t done so well against Leigh in the past, but we’ve got them at home this week and it’s a game that we need to win.

“It’ll be a physical game – every time we’ve played them before it’s been a physical game and they’ve got some good, smart players.

“If we just stick to the things that we’ve been doing right and keep chipping away at them then hopefully we can get the win.

“We’re on a good run at the moment – we’ve managed to put things together and we’re playing quite well.

“There’s still room for improvement, but we’re on the right track. We need to train well to push on for a good game on Friday.

“It would be massive to get the win. The amount of stress that was on the boys last year created a big weight on our shoulders, so it will relieve a lot of that pressure if we’re playing in the top eight.
