Toronto Wolfpack miss another player payment

Matty Russell has revealed that Toronto Wolfpack have missed yet another payment deadline almost two years on from their demise. (Yorkshire Live)

Russell, who has joined Warrington for 2023, says that players are still owed as much as six months’ pay as big as five-figure sums.

Hull KR offer unique insight

Hull KR are offering fans a unique opportunity to join Willie Peters and Danny McGuire in the coach’s box against Leeds to raise funds for the women’s team.

The opportunity will be offered via a silent auction with the minimum bid starting at £750.

RIP Maurice Oldroyd

Tributes are being paid to Maurice Oldroyd, who has died at the age of 87.

Oldroyd was a former chief executive, chair and patron of the British Amateur Rugby League Association.

Gareth Ellis is among four players to have recently been added to Hull’s Hall of Fame.

The former international back-rower was inducted to the Hall of Fame at the club’s season launch dinner, along with Kirk Yeaman, Jack Harrison and Arthur Bunting.

Jack Walker doesn’t rule out Leeds return

Bradford’s off-season recruit Jack Walker hasn’t ruled out ever making a return to Leeds. (Yorkshire Evening Post)

Walker, 23, had a year remaining on his deal at Headingley Stadium, but was released in October to join the Championship outfit. 

He told Yorkshire Evening Post: “Never say never, if it’s the right choice, why not?

“I didn’t leave on bad terms, whatever happened happened. I am enjoying myself at Bradford and just want to get playing.”

Matty Nicholson on Wigan exit

Matty Nicholson has opened up on his Wigan exit as the promising youngster says he is eager to repay Warrington’s faith in 2023.

He told Love Rugby League: “It kind of came across that Matty and I had a bit of a bicker. But we didn’t. It was all respectfully done. Obviously Matty wanted me to stay. He’s seen me grow as a player from the age of 14 and I have a lot of respect for him.

“I’ve got a lot of friends at Wigan, but hopefully it shows to be the right decision.”
