Steve McNamara denies interest in Leeds job

Leeds remain without a permanent head coach. Jamie Jones-Buchanan is currently the interim-boss at the club.

Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington says he will also travel to Australia to continue the search for the club’s new head coach.

Iain Thornley hoping for Wigan success

Iain Thornley is hoping Wigan can make their 150th anniversary year a successful one on the field for the fans. (Wigan Today)

Thornley, 30, returned to action for the club’s reserves after sustaining an injury in the opening game against Hull KR.

He told Wigan Today: “It’s a massive year for the club and we’ve had a good start. But we have to keep grounded and keep working because even teams who are lower in the league can bite you on the backside. Hopefully we can have a good year, especially for that 150th anniversary.”

Super League attendances

Super League round seven saw an average attendance of 8,169 across the six fixtures.

A total of 49,016 spectators attended a game of Super League during the seventh round of the competition.
