Richard Horne eyeing cup run with Doncaster but won’t underestimate Myton

Doncaster boss Richard Horne won’t be taking amateurs Myton Warriors lightly this weekend – because he has his eye on a cup run.

The Dons face the amateur side for the second season in a row in the third round of the competition and will name a strong side.

Horne told the club’s official website: “We won’t be making too many changes because we want to keep working on the combinations we’ve started to build, players are still learning each other’s game so it’s important we leave them out there.

“A cup run is great for any team, I wasn’t here for the Leeds game last season but if we can emulate that then it will provide us with a nice distraction from the league campaign.”

Last season, the Dons beat Myton 34-6 before defeating Gloucestershire All Golds 48-22 in the next round.
That set up a trip to Super League side Leeds in the fifth round, where the Dons ran in six tries in a 64-28 defeat.

Leeds played at the Keepmoat Stadium last season, losing 43-24 to Hull in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
