Pritchard hangs up his boots

Former Hull forward Frank Pritchard has announced his retirement from rugby league.

Pritchard, 34, was expected to take up an offer to extend his career by another year in the NRL with Parramatta Eels.

But he told the Daily Telegraph in Australia: “I don’t just want to go around and make up the numbers and be a fossil.”

Pritchard played one season in Super League back in 2016, scoring five tries in 24 appearances for the Airlie Birds.

He played more than 250 games in the NRL for Penrith, Canterbury and Parramatta.

“The Tank” also earned 32 international caps for New Zealand and Samoa, and was an unused member of the Kiwis 2008 World Cup winning team.
