Castleford coach Daryl Powell has wished Lee Jewitt well, after the forward sustained a knee injury against Wigan which looks to have ended his season.

The fans’ favourite is departing the club at the end of the campaign and heading to Australia, which means he has now most likely played his last Tigers game.

“We’ve lost Lee Jewitt. He’s got an MCL, a knee ligament injury, and he’ll be out for a while. It will be a brace for about six weeks so it’s a tough injury for him,” Powell told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“It looks like it’s the end for him at Castleford.

“He started the season like a house on fire and he came back like a house on fire. He’s had some good games, but he just hasn’t been able to put a consistent run together.

“It’s been really tough for him. Obviously he wouldn’t have wanted it to finish that way so it’s really disappointing and frustrating for him and I feel for him.”
