Peacock escapes ban for punching

Leeds Rhinos prop Jamie Peacock has avoided a ban, following his fight in the recent Challenge Cup tie with Leigh Centurions. The former England veteran has been found guilty, however, of punching Matt Sarsfield.

Peacock admitted the offence at his appearance at Rugby Football League disciplinary panel. The panel also took Peacock’s previous exemplary record into account, as well as the fact that he received “significant provocation.”

The player did receive a £300 fine, but will be free to play for Leeds on Thursday night, when the Rhinos welcome Huddersfield Giants to Headingley.
