Parramatta half-back Jaeman Salmon has been stood down for the opening round of the NRL season and fined over his drink-driving charge last year.

The club released on Sunday to confirm Salmon would not be available for selection in the season opener against Penrith Panthers and would be fined $10,000 after consultation with the NRL integrity unit.

Salmon was found guilty of a low-range drink-driving charge after crashing his car last October.

A Parramatta spokesperson said: “Jaeman has demonstrated genuine remorse and has supported this by completing a safe driving course and is currently undertaking welfare and education programmes stipulated by the club.

“The club views drink driving as an extremely serious offence and is working closely with Jaeman to ensure a clear understanding of his personal responsibilities.”
