Paea wants a trophy before departing Hull FC

Mickey Paea has hopes that he can leave Hull FC on a high at the end of the season.

The club confirmed today that the prop forward has not signed a new deal at the club, and will be heading to the NRL in 2016.

But the player’s imminent departure will not dampen his commitment to the Black and White cause.

“I will be making sure I give my all to the team and the club for the rest of the season and bust my backside off to try and make it a special end to the season for us,” he told the club’s official website.

“I always had dreams of winning something when I came to Super League and I would love to do that with Hull FC, it is a special club with a bright future.”

Paea also expressed gratitude to the Airlie Birds for their honesty and support over the last few weeks, as he decided on his future.

“I will be eternally grateful for the understanding the club have shown me over the last few months and would like to thank Adam Pearson, Lee Radford and Motu Tony for their unwavering support during this time,” he added.

“They have been open and honest with me throughout and made me a great offer to stay at the club, which I would have undoubtedly accepted had the circumstances have been right.

“However, they have known and understand that my family and I had aspirations to return home and for me as a player to test myself in the NRL again and have waited patiently for me to make my decision, without any added pressure.

“There is no doubt that the only other place I would have signed would have been Hull had I stayed in England. I love the club, the people here and would like to thank everyone who has made it such a great experience for me, including my team mates, the staff and the fans.”
