Oldham pair face fitness tests

Dave Ellison (head) and Jason Boults (hip) both face late fitness tests after suffering injuries during last week’s defeat against York. Neither took part in Tuesday’s training session.

Mick Fogerty (ankle and foot) and Neil Roden (broken toe) are also missing from Tony Benson’s squad.

Benson said: “It was a great experience for us to get into our new home at the Whitebank Stadium.

“Hopefully this week we can reward the fans with a win, although London are a side that are improving every week. You never know who’s going to be in their squad.”

Benson spent a season coaching the Skolars before joining Oldham, but he insisted: “It’s just another game from my point of view. All that matters to me is making sure we get three points.”

James Simon could return for the Skolars after training on Monday, but Josh Welsh is likely to be out for a month after suffering an infected arm.

London coach James Massara said: “Our attack is finally starting to click. We’re just doing simple things better at the minute, which is good. We’ve got a slightly more settled squad and that’s helping.

“We’re under no illusions that it’s going to be a very big task on Sunday. We’re looking forward to seeing the new ground, but we know exactly what we’re coming up against on the field.

“We’re going to have to concentrate on what we’re doing and build on what we did at the weekend, because we’ve come out of that game very positively. It’s been a while since we put together periods of play like that and got into a game like that.”
