Off the Record: Rugby League Rumours and Gossip #100

There is so much transfer talk going on at the moment.

Roberts homesick?

There are a few rumours going around claiming that Warrington Wolves’ marquee signing Tyrone Roberts is suffering from homesickness. He didn’t play against Huddersfield last week as he was injured, apparently. Will he see the year out at the Halliwell Jones Stadium? Only time will tell…

Carney not the man for Hull KR

There have been reports flying around recently which suggest that Hull Kingston Rovers were going to bring former Dally M Medal winner Todd Carney to the club. However, Robins head coach Tim Sheens confirmed earlier this week that they had enquired about the ex-Salford Red Devils star but was told that the move was not going to happen.

The NRL want Sutton

Promising Wigan Warriors prop Ryan Sutton has caught the eye of several NRL clubs with his impressive performances for Wigan. The 22-year-old has played nearly 100 first team games already and Newcastle Knights are reported to be ‘definitely’ interested in him and there is talk of Canberra Raiders being keen, too.

Keinhorst could leave Leeds

Jimmy Keinhorst has become frustrated with the lack of game time at Leeds Rhinos and is open to moving on, claim League Express. However, the Rhinos see the Germany international as a solid utility player and don’t want to let him go. League Express report that Leeds turned down an offer for his services earlier this year.

Wigan keen on Hardaker

Castleford Tigers’ suspended full-back Zak Hardaker is close to joining Wigan Warriors, according to League Weekly’s Dave Parker. It is reported that the 26-year-old has signed – or could sign – a five-year deal once his ban-length has been confirmed. Apparently, the Warriors have provided Hardaker with a personal trainer.

Huddersfield offer Brough new deal

Danny Brough has been offered a new one-year deal by Huddersfield Giants. The Scotland captain has been at the Giants since 2010 and his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, hence why Huddersfield have quickly offered him an extension.
