Newcastle Knights centre Tautau Moga has been charged with assault after an altercation on Boxing Day.

The Knights have issued a statement regarding the incident, which didn’t identify Moga, saying they were ‘made aware of an incident involving a player on December 26, 2018’.

In the statement, a Newcastle spokesperson said: “The club alerted the NRL integrity unit at an appropriate time and are co-operating with the NSW Police.”

Moga made his NRL debut back in 2012 for Sydney Roosters and has played 63 matches in his career to date. He has earned three caps for Samoa.
