New Zealand Warriors dealt double injury blow

New Zealand Warriors duo Leeson Ah Mau and Jazz Tevaga have been sidelined with injuries.

New Zealand and Samoa international prop Ah Mau is expected to be out for up to four months after undergoing surgery on a pectoral injury.

The 30-year-old, who has made 205 NRL appearances, will stay in Australia for his operation in Sydney later this week before returning home.

Ah Mau was the only player to appear in each of the Warriors’ 24 games last season and also started the first two rounds in 2020.

Samoa loose forward Tevaga sustained a knee injury during training in Tamworth on Friday – and will be sidelined indefinitely with scans needed to establish the full extent of the injury.

The injuries to Ah Mau and Tevaga mean four of the club’s middle forwards are now out of action, with props Bunty Afoa and Jackson Frei back in Auckland recovering from ACL surgery.
