New Zealand Warriors coach Stephen Kearney has confirmed the club’s interest in signing Brisbane half-back Kodi Nikorima for next season.

The New Zealand international has been tabled a three-and-a-half-year deal by the Warriors, with an immediate move dependent on being granted a release by the Broncos, according to NRL.com.

Kearney admitted he first looked at signing Nikorima, who has 13 caps for New Zealand, at the end of last year.

On the possibility of signing Nikorima, Kearney commented: “We have expressed interest in Kodi for a long time, he was looked at as a prospect for 2020 last year.

“We have left it with him and his management for 2020 and that’s it, so whatever happens this year, that’s in their hands.

“I couldn’t tell you [if there’s a chance he comes this year], you’d have to ask the Broncos.”
