Wigan trio Patrick Mago, Abbas Miski and Ramon Silva have been named in a youthful Wigan squad that will face Newcastle on Sunday.

The new signings are set to make their first appearances for the club since signing from South Sydney and London respectively.

Wigan will appear for the first time in 2022 as they make the trip to the North East. Former Wigan forward Eamon O’Carroll is the Head Coach, while Denis Betts is their Director of Rugby.

Also in line to appear are Jai Field, Morgan Smithies, Joe Shorrocks, Brad O’Neill, Umyla Hanley, Kai Pearce-Paul and James McDonnell.

Elsewhere, there are 11 players in the squad who were part of the Under-19s squad in 2021.

It will be Matt Peet’s first game since taking charge of Wigan. He was appointed back in October, replacing Adrian Lam in the role.

Meanwhile, it will be Newcastle’s second game after a 34-22 defeat to Barrow on Sunday.

Matt Peet on pre-season schedule

The new Wigan coach was pleased with his side’s schedule for pre-season. As well as Newcastle, they also make the short trip to face rivals Warrington.

Peet said at the time: “It’s an exciting mix, we expect there may be some players who play a little bit in both games. The stronger team, in general, will probably go to Warrington, with a younger team at Newcastle.

“There’ll be some experienced lads in both teams and I feel that travelling up to Newcastle, they’re an exciting Club, it’s got a good feel about it that game.”
