New signing Will Tate could make his Castleford debut against his former club Hull KR after being included in Andy Last’s 21-man squad for the Super League clash.

Tate, 21, linked up with the Tigers earlier this month on a two-and-a-half-year deal from the Robins.

He was not included in Castleford’s squad for their trip to the AJ Bell Stadium last Thursday.

The outside-back made 16 first team appearances for Hull KR, and has also featured for Rochdale Hornets, Workington Town and Dewsbury Rams on loans and dual-registrations.

Tate will wear shirt number 39 for the remainder of the 2023 campaign for the Mend-A-Hose Jungle side.

Meanwhile, Gareth Widdop has dropped out of the squad. The former England international has made seven appearances so far in 2023, having missed games against Catalans and Wakefield due to illness.

The decision could see Jack Broadbent return to the halves alongside Jacob Miller.

Liam Watts comes into the squad, while Joe Westerman is in line to make a return after serving a one-match suspension. He missed the club’s 14-6 defeat to Salford in Round Nine.

James Batchelor returns to Hull KR’s 21-man squad after serving his one-match suspension.

Sam Wood also returns after a minor hamstring injury, with Ethan Ryan and Yusuf Aydin also returning.

Aydin, 22, has returned to the club after a short-term loan with Featherstone in the Championship. The Turkey international featured in wins over London Broncos and Batley.

Half-back Rowan Milnes drops out the squad after heading to Wakefield on a two-week loan.

Frankie Halton, Louis Senior and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e also drop out this week.
