Prop Adam Neal has become the first player to commit to Oldham for 2018.

Neal, 27, missed eight games with a broken jaw at a crucial time of the season as the Roughyeds were relegated to League 1.

He said: “A few of the lads got together and decided we wanted to stick with each other – and stick with Oldham

“I’m sure others will sign soon and that fans will see a few familiar faces back at the club in pursuit of our target to get back up to the Championship as quickly as we can.”

The former Salford and Sheffield forward has made 48 appearanes for the club.

Chairman Chris Hamilton added: “He always leads from the front, that’s Adam. It was obvious to everyone how much we missed him when he was out last season with a broken jaw.

“It goes without saying that we are delighted to have him back on board again.”
