Huddersfield winger Aaron Murphy is looking forward to stepping out onto the St James’ Park pitch to face Catalans Dragons on Sunday.

Murphy relishes the chance to play at a large and iconic stadium like Newcastle United’s ground.

“I always look forward to Magic Weekend, it’s something out of the norm to play at a different ground rather than your home ground or at another Super League stadium,” he said.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play at all of the stadiums the Magic Weekend has been held at and there’s been some big grounds. St James’ Park is going to be amazing with the record number of fans I’ve heard are going.”

The Giants and the Dragons opent he Magic Weekend’s second day on Sunday at 1pm.

The French outfit are one of Super League‘s poorest away teams, but Murphy believes that the occasion cancels out advantage that might accrue to the Giants.

“They had a great performance last week against Wigan. I don’t think they’ll be too concerned about their away form, there’s no home advantage for any side,” he added.

“We know that on their day they can turn up and beat anyone so we’re not going to be taking them lightly.”
