Castleford back-rower Grant Millington has signed a one-year contract extension.

Millington, 27, is now committed to the club until the end of the 2015 season.

He said: “I’m happy to sign the new deal.

“Towards the back end of last season I re-signed for 2014 but just before I went back to Australia for the off-season Daryl Powell texted me and mentioned that he was interested in keeping me for another season on top of that.

“My wife and I went home and had a chat about it and we couldn’t think of any reason not to so we are really happy to be here for 2015 too.

“The feeling around the club at the moment is great. The first two seasons were a little bit of a struggle, although towards the end of last season things really picked up for us.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here; it’s a family club and everyone is here to help everyone else so I’m happy to be here for a bit longer.”

Millington joined the Tigers from Canterbury Bulldogs ahead of the 2012 campaign, and has gone on to score seven tries in 44 Super League appearances.

Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “I have been hugely impressed with Grant as a leader and a player during my time at the club.

“He is a natural rugby league player with a great instinct for the game. His contract extension gives us further stability moving forward and I am delighted his stay at the club has been extended.”
