McCormack impressed with Warrington youngsters

Steve McCormack reckons Swinton’s six new signings came through their debuts against Salford with distinction.

The new boys – Brad Dwyer, Ryan Shaw, Danny Bridge, Gene Ormsby, Jordan Burke and Gavin Bennion – all featured in Sunday’s 52-12 defeat after joining on dual registration from Warrington on Friday.

McCormack said: “The Warrington lads came in and had a right go and we will get better and better the more sessions we get.

“They are young players and we are quite a young side playing against a very good team and there were no problems with them settling in.

“They all played long minutes. They trained with us for an hour on Friday night but they have shown they are here for the right reasons because they all put their bodies on the line as our young players did as well.

“The more time we spend together the better we will get.”

All six players have come through the Warrington academy system and have joined the Lions as part of the partnership between the two clubs.

Their arrival means the four trialists, who played against North Wales Crusaders, have been released.
