McClennan hails McGuire

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Brian McClennan has hailed Rhinos and England star Danny McGuire as one of the most dangerous players in world rugby after the stand off was named as the Leeds Rhinos Player of the Year.

McGuire had been omitted from the Engage Super League Dream Team, which was announced on Monday, however he made up for that disappointment by being named his club’s Player of the Year and picking up the Leeds Building Society Try of the Season award for his juggling, long distance effort against St Helens in the Carnegie Challenge Cup semi final.

McClennan said, “I think Danny is one of the best players in the world on his current form. He fully deserves to be named our Player of the Year. He has improved in so many areas of his game. He has always been renowned for his ability to be the man on the spot to take the crucial pass but there is so much more to his game now. To see that level of improvement in someone who was a world class player at the start of the season anyway, speaks volumes for how impressive he has been this season for us.”

Jamie Jones-Buchanan was runner up to McGuire whilst Kylie Leuluai repeated his third place finished from last season.
