Hull KR back rower Tyrone McCarthy has been impressed by his new team-mate Albert Kelly‘s displays in Super League so far this season.

Both the Irish international and the Australian half-back are newcomers to Rovers, with both signing for the club in the close season.

“Albert’s a really special player to have in our team. He can make something out of nothing and that’s showing in our opening few games,” McCarthy told the Hull Daily Mail.

“He’s made some early errors but it’s up to us team-mates to have his back and I’m sure he’s working hard to get rid of them.

“His off-the-cuff style is great to watch and can cut through teams, and I’m loving playing alongside him at the minute.”

Next up for Rovers is a trip to McCarthy’s former club Warrington on Sunday. The second rower is hoping that the Robins ca build on last week’s fine win over Wigan.

He said: “The win against Wigan couldn’t have come quick enough and now it’s all about building on that performance this weekend.”
