Matt Place leaves Halifax

Halifax have confirmed that Australian half-back Matt Place has left the club, and returned home to Sydney.

The player’s contract has been terminated with mutual agreement between him and the club.

“Matt has worked hard since arriving from Australia before Christmas, and has been a valued member of the squad, scoring the winning try at Batley,” said Fax chairman Michael Steele.

“However, he has family commitments in Sydney, and, naturally those take priority over his sporting ambitions here.

“We wish him well in his future career.”
