North Queensland Cowboys back-rower Coen Hess has penned a new three-year contract extension with the club.

Hess’ contract was due to expire at the end of 2019, but he will now remain at the Cowboys until at least the end of the 2022 campaign.

The 22-year-old has played 59 games in the NRL since making his debut in 2015. Hess has made five appearances for Queensland at Origin level so far.

On his new deal, Hess said: “This club means everything to me.

“Growing up in Mt Isa, I have lived and breathed the Cowboys for as long as I can remember.

“Getting my first taste of the NRL with the Cowboys was a dream come true and this club has become a massive part of my life.

“I’m extremely passionate about the North Queensland region. The lifestyle here is second to none, I grew up here and I hope to live here for the rest of my playing career and beyond.”

Hess is a homegrown product of the Cowboys’ Elite Pathways Program.
