Hull forward Willie Manu has signed a new two-year deal at the KC Stadium.

Manu, 30, was attracting interest from a host of rugby league and union clubs, but he has committed himself to the Airlie Birds until 2012.

The Tongan said: “We are settled here and there is a great bunch of blokes, great coaching staff and I am really confident that when we get a few blokes back we can really achieve something here.

“Hull gave me an opportunity when I left Castleford and they have been great to me since I got here.”

Manu was part of the Hull team that reached the Challenge Cup final in 2008 and won the club’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year award last season.

Head coach Richard Agar said: “We are pleased to get the deal done.

“Willie has been one of our strongest performers this season and is probably enjoying career-best form and we feel we have managed to keep hold of a player at the peak of his game.”
