Lockyer to play on

Brisbane legend Darren Lockyer has vowed to extend his representitive career and has made himself available for Origin selection.

The 33-year-old five-eighth says he feels his body is ready for another assault on Test football and the State of Origin arena.

“After the good pre-season I have experienced, this is the best I have physically felt for years,” said Lockyer.

“It has convinced me that I am ready for one more crack at representative football, including another Origin campaign against NSW.

“We have had a great run in recent years for Queensland, and I would love to be a part of another series.

“In the end, I realised you are retired a long time and although I have played many times for both my State and country, I still believe I have something to offer.”

Speculation about Lockyer bringing to an end his glittering representative career has mounted amid concerns about Brisbane’s less-than-thrilling start to the season.
