Leigh Centurions have unveiled the signing of former Bradford and Harlequins forward, Michael Worrincy

Worrincy, 25, has recently finished a short spell with Penrith Panthers playing in the New South Wales Cup.

Acting Head Coach Paul Rowley said, “Michael’s agent contacted us two or three weeks ago – he mentioned that Michael had come back from Penrith.

Straight away we thought that he’s a good player that could fit in and run a good line on an edge for us. He’s a strong lad and definitely could be a fantastic player to bolster our squad.

We discussed it carefully within the club and now we’ve done the business and he signed this morning at the photo-shoot. He’s a brilliant capture. Like others in our squad, he’s a quality and exciting player. The fans can see that we’ve brought in some new players that are a natural fit with our local guys and that can only be good for us.”

Leigh have also announced the decision to release former Wigan and Widnes player Chris Gerrard after a change in the players personal circumstances.

Trevor Barton MBE, chief executive of the club, said “We’d like to thank Chris for his efforts and also his candour in the matter. Everyone at Leigh wishes him well for the future.”
