Lebanon have confirmed they will take part in qualifying for the 2008 World Cup in Australia.

Their participation had been in doubt following the 34-day conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Lebanon Rugby League president Mohammed Habbous said: "We would like to show that Lebanese rugby league is steadfast and will endure in times of hardship."

Lebanon were due to host Ireland on 28 October but the fixture list for qualifying will now be revised.

In preparation for the qualifiers, Lebanon will take on Malta in Western Sydney on 8 October.
