Soon-to-be St Helens boss Kristian Woolf is set to be re-appointed as Tonga coach, according to reports.

Woolf is set to be reinstated as the Mate Ma’a Tonga boss for the upcoming Tests against Great Britain and Australia this autumn and possibly the World Cup 9s, suggest NRL.com.

Rugby League International Federation chairman Nigel Wood met with Tongan Prime Minister Semisi Sika last week to discuss concerns about the Test matches against Great Britain and Australia.

According to NRL.com, Woolf would be willing to again take charge of the Tonga team.

The TNRL board sacked Woolf last month and appointed Frank Endacott for the Tests and Garth Brennan for the World Cup 9s.

Brennan has since resigned and Endacott has said he would step aside for the good of the game if Woolf returned.
