St Helens boss Kristian Woolf has praised Channel 4’s opening coverage of the game.

Leeds’ home clash with Warrington kick-started the new coverage, presented by comedian Adam Hills.

It resulted in a game with everything; one red, one yellow and a last minute twist as Warrington stole the victory with just minutes remaining.

St Helens travel to the MKM Stadium this Saturday to face Hull, the second edition of Channel 4’s coverage.

St Helens boss praises coverage

One man who was impressed with the coverage was Saints boss Woolf.

“I thought it was really good,” Woolf said. “I thought they did a really good job.

“I’ve spoken plenty of times about the opportunity that we’ve got there.

“It’s great that we’ve got that opportunity, because I know we’ve got a great product to sell in terms of our game.

“We’ve got a terrific competition over here with some really high class players as well. The more people that get to see that, hopefully that brings in some more viewers each weekend.”

Kristian Woolf prepared for Hull test

The 2021 Super League champions got their year off to a winning start with a 28-8 victory over Catalans at home.

Brett Hodgson’s side claimed a 16-12 victory away at Wakefield, with skipper Luke Gale scoring on debut.

Hull will be without Jake Connor and Andre Savelio due to bans. Carlos Tuimavave will also not feature with a hamstring injury.

St Helens remain unchanged.

Previewing their opponents, Woolf said: “We’ve had a good look at them. We’ve done our a usual sort of preparation.

“They are a dangerous side. They’re a side that’s got the ability to be very physical. They’ve got some real threats through the middle of the field there and then they’ve got some threats on the edges as well.

“They’ve also got some players that can come up with different things at different times in terms of some tricky sort of kicks and some plays that can be challenges as well.

“We’re expecting a really tough game. We’re expecting a very physical game. We know that we’re going to have to be right up for the occasion.”
