St Helens powerhouse Konrad Hurrell breaks through against Wakefield at the Be Well Support Stadium

St Helens centre Konrad Hurell has received a one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle during the Super League Round 24 victory over Wakefield.

The 32-year-old Tonga international was hit with a Grade B charge by the match review panel during the 32-16 triumph.

Hurrell made his return from injury at Belle Vue after missing the previous four games due to a calf strain. However, he left the field during the first half and could have been a doubt anyway for this Friday’s fixture with Leigh Leopards.

Meanwhile, Salford Red Devils have been hammered by the match review panel following their 26-8 defeat to Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Three players have received suspensions following the defeat that saw them knocked out of the top six, with Hull KR defeating Catalans Dragons at Craven Park.

Having been sent to the sin-bin for a high shot on Bevan French, forward King Vuniyayawa received a one-match ban for the incident.

The Fiji international also picked up a another one-match suspension for dangerous contact, and will now miss fixtures against Warrington and Hull KR amid the club’s push for the top six.

Skipper Kallum Watkins will miss Sunday’s home clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Wolves, while loose forward Oliver Partington has also been hit with a one-match suspension.

Wigan superstar French has been fined £250 for his tackle on Chris Atkin, resulting in a penalty. He received a Grade B dangerous throw charge and escaped a ban.

Castleford have been hit with a major blow in their bid to ensure Super League safety with influential half-back Jacob Miller picking up a one-match ban. He was sent for 10 during the televised defeat at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Finally, in another blow for a play-off chasing side, Hull will be without playmaker Jake Clifford in Round 25 due to a Grade C other contrary behaviour charge.

The Black & Whites face the Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
