Keighley ready for York City

Keighley are looking to get their season back on track after a disappointing loss to Doncaster.

The Cougars went down 44-28 at home to Doncaster in League 1 last weekend. They meet York City Knights in the Challenge Cup this afternoon.

Coach Paul March said: “I was massively disappointed last week. The willingness to defend our own line was disappointing. We’ve been working hard this week to put it right and it’s another challenge for us going to York.

“We just want to get back on the field as quickly as we can and put some wrongs right and this will be an ideal opportunity on a nice wide field. It’s a perfect playing surface so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

York City Knights had a bye last week.

Coach James Ford said: “We’re in a bit of a stop-start period so I would have preferred to keep playing and build some relationships and maybe get a bye later in the season when the blokes are a bit tired.

“But it did give us a bit of time away from rugby to try to build a different type of cohesion, so hopefully we’ll get some positives from it.

“Keighley have a lot of good players and will be disappointed with the scoreline against Doncaster and all their talk all week will be righting a couple of wrongs and getting back on the horse. We’re expecting a real tough encounter.”
