Keighley fill Toulouse void for Fev

Keighley will travel to face Featherstone on Thursday after Rovers’ original opponents Toulouse had their flight cancelled.

The Cougars were due to have a free weekend, but they have instead stepped up to fill the void left by Toulouse, who face increasing travel problems owing to the continuous air traffic problems caused by volcanic ash.

“The RFL would like to extend its appreciation to Keighley Cougars for their co-operation in moving their fixture at such short notice,” said the RFL’s Operations Director Emma Rosewarne.

“As part of our contingency plan, we asked Keighley earlier this week if they would be willing to step in should Toulouse not be able to travel and when news of the flight cancellation arrived this morning the Cougars kindly agreed to play on Thursday.”

Toulouse Olympique only returned to France yesterday after travelling to the UK by coach last Saturday for their Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth round tie at St Helens.

Featherstone were originally meant to host Keighley on Sunday May 16.
