Keary explains Crowe incident

South Sydney half Luke Keary has opened up on what occurred between him and Russell Crowe at the club’s bonding session.

Keary was blasted by the Souths co-owner at the team session and stormed out, resulting in Crowe publicly apologising.

Keary said he has no regrets over walking out.

“It started off as a bit of banter and went too far,” he told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

“There were some throwaway comments. He never stood up in front of the group and started spraying us or anything like that.

“In the end, I’d just had enough of what was being said to some of the other boys. That’s when he said some things to me and it kicked off.

“I don’t regret what happened because I know I didn’t do anything wrong.

“Russell reached out to me about a week later and my respect for him has really grown because of it.

“I felt he was very sincere and cares about me and the boys. We all know he cares about the club and just wants to win football games.”
