Jowitt looks to end losing streak

Dewsbury Rams coach Warren Jowitt is set for a number of major boosts as he bids to halt an 11-match streak without a win.

Dewsbury have lost 10 and drawn one of their fixtures during a run that dates back to April. Their 38-22 win against Batley on April 10 was the last time Jowitt’s men enjoyed a victory.

However, James Walker, Elliott Hodgson, William Barthau and Richard Fletcher are all set to return to the Dewsbury squad after missing last week’s Northern Rail Cup semi-final against Leigh.

Josh Tonks (ribs) faces a late fitness test before Jowitt finalises his team.

York City Knights coach Dave Woods has labelled Sunday’s trip to Dewsbury as a potential make-or-break fixture in the Knights’ battle to avoid relegation.

Woods said: “We’ve got to take this one if we want to stay up. It’s a must-win game for us.

“Dewsbury are just one place above us in the table, and if we want to be in the Co-operative Championship next year then we’ve got to make sure we win this match.”

Matt Barron remains at least two weeks away from full fitness, according to Woods.

The City Knights had some time off during the recent break, with Woods saying: “I think we’ll be mentally fresher. It will have done our blokes good to get away for a few days and do their own thing.”
