French hooker John Boudebza has revealed that he has signed a one-year contract at Hull KR.

The 24-year-old is currently training with Richard Agar’s French squad, who are preparing for their opening European Championship game against Ireland on Saturday.

“I’ve signed for a year and if I play twelve matches in 2015, my contract will be automatically renewed,” said Boudezba, according to French newspaper L’Independent.

Hull KR are looking for a hooker after the departure of Josh Hodgson to Canberra,”

The report also suggest that Boudebza was approached by Greg Keenan, the agent of Rangi Chase.

Boudezba is currently plying his trade at Lezignan in the French Elite League. The player, who came through the ranks at Catalan, before moving to with UTC and then Pia, thanked the club for helping him to progress.

Lezignan were understanding,” the player added.

“What’s happening to me is like a dream. I have progressed well at Lezignan under the guidance of Aurélien Cologni and I hope I can raise my level in Hull and become even better.”

For the moment, Boudezba looks set to continue playing for his French club, before heading over to Yorkshire before Christmas.

“I will play for my club Lezignan until mid-November,” he said.

“Any player with any ambition looks forward to Super League club giving him a call.”

“But I have not yet played in the Super League with them. I know I’ll have to apply myself to achieve my goals.”
