Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that Jamie Jones-Buchanan will be out of action for six to nine months.

The back rower sustained a rupture of his quad tendon during Friday evening’s Challenge Cup semi final against St Helens.

“This is desperately disappointing news for Jamie and everyone is fully behind him after this setback,” said Rhinos coach Brian McDermott.

“He is in the best possible hands with our medical team and I have no doubt, given the obstacles he has already overcome in his career, that he will come more determined than ever to perform to his best for the team next season.”
