Hull KR have given former Leeds centre Jimmy Keinhorst a new contract for 2022.

The 31-year-old has made only five appearances for the Robins so far this season and had a spell on loan at Castleford but he has done enough to earn a new deal for next year, when clubs will run reserve teams once more.

Coach Tony Smith said: “Jimmy is an experienced, versatile player. He’s a really good club man and we need guys like that in our squad.

“He’s happy to help others, even if he’s not selected in the team. Jimmy wants to be in the team each week and he’ll get opportunities for that in the future.

“The extension is a reward for his great attitude and what he can contribute on the pitch.”

Keinhorst, who spent the bulk of the 2020 season on loan at Championship club York, said: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity the club has given me to stay another year.

“I think the club and the team are going in a positive direction – I’m excited to be part of that for another year.”
