London star Jarrod Sammut hopes they can kick on from their win at Super League side Widnes.

The Broncos caused an upset in the first game of the Qualifiers last Thursday. They beat the Vikings 21-20 at the Halton Stadium.

Sammut thinks the win at Widnes is massive for the Broncos as they look to gain promotion into Super League.

He told loverugbyleague.com: “We have got a lot of confidence within our ability.

“We are a very tight knit group this year and we have been in this situation time and time again, so having to come from behind like against Widnes doesn’t faze us.

“We need to make sure that we control the game the best we can and make the most of the opportunities that come our way. Against Widnes, we didn’t get flustered when we were behind and it was a really big reward for the boys and their efforts.

“It is a huge boost for our Middle 8s campaign and hopefully we can take that confidence into Leeds next game and kick on.”

Sammut sealed the win for the Championship side with a last-minute drop-goal, but he didn’t think it was going to go over.

He added: “The way I was striking the ball earlier in the game, I wasn’t confident at all in taking the drop-goal!

“But I don’t think I’ve hit a ball sweeter than that one, it went straight through the middle of the sticks.

“It was a big reward for the lads because I thought they did enough for the win and luckily for me, it sailed over.”
