Jamie Ellis boost for Castleford

Castleford’s play-off hopes are set to receive a boost with the return of half-back Jamie Ellis.

Ellis, 29, hasn’t featured this season following knee surgery, and is expected to link up with Jake Trueman for the game against London on Saturday.

Assistant coach Ryan Sheridan told Tigers TV: “It’s a massive bonus for us. His combination with Jake Trueman in training has been good to watch.

“We’ve been missing a genuine half, it doesn’t help when you keep chopping and changing your half combinations.

“Hopefully over the next five games, we can settle our half combinations down which will go long way to building confidence and performance and consistency across the board.”

Castleford have struggled in the half-back position for much of the season following the pre-season injury suffered by England scrum-half Luke Gale.

Ellis played 19 times last season, scoring 66 points, his last appearance coming at home to Warrington in August 2018.
